Best Skyrim Mods
1. Forgotten City
Already familiar with every corner of the map? It’s time to add a new city to the game that comes laden with quests and expansion content.
With the Forgotten City mod installed, players will have a place where they can visit and roam around for hours and see beautiful sights that soothe the savage soul. Additionally, the mod also includes more content and expansions, so if you’re feeling like experiencing a one-of-a-kind adventure, then the Forgotten City mod should be at the top of your list.
Currently, Forgotten City Mod is only available for PC and Xbox One. It’s unclear if this mod will be available on PlayStation 4 any time soon.
2. Surreal Lighting
Tired of looking at the outdated graphics of Skyrim? Surreal Lighting mod will change your life for the better.
Through revamping saturation, contrast, and brightness, the Surreal Lighting Mod transforms Skyrim into an ultra-HD experience. Colorful surroundings and wonderfully crafted objects make the game look extraordinary. Although it doesn’t change interiors or weather conditions, it still manages to impress us with its balanced lighting and sun flares.
Luckily, the Surreal Lighting Mod is completely free and it is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
3. The Paarthurnax Dilemma
In GOT, we never wanted Jon Snow to stab Khaleesi in her heart but when he did, it shattered our hearts in a million pieces. Similarly in Skyrim, we didn’t want to take down the might Paarthurnax dragon that told us the secrets of the realm. But, story writers at Bethesda forced our hands to take down the beast and it didn’t felt right.
As a result, the modding community came up with a mod called “The Paarthurnax Dilemma”, which alters the original plot of the game so that players do not have to kill Paarthurnax and can continue on without killing him.
It is one of the most wholesome Skyrim mods out there and if you aren’t fond of binding your beasty friend under a dangerous spell and eventually kill him then install this mod and spare his life.
‘The Paarthurnax Dilemma’ Mod is available on Xbox One and PC only.
4. Better Horses
It’s a fact that Skyrim Horses AI sucks and those who prefer the traditional traveling rather than fast traveling feature will know what we’re talking about.
The pre-installed horses are quite weak with little stamina and the health bar is just a joke. That’s why you need better horses in Skyrim. Fortunately, there’s a mod called ‘Better Horses’ that will enhance the horses in Skyrim by adding valuable skins, increasing stamina, and making them less vulnerable.
Although, a lot of bugs and glitches were reported with this mod and the developer behind this mod wasn’t much experienced and couldn’t fix many of them. Nevertheless, it is still one of the most used mods on Skyrim.
As for the availability, this mod is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
5. Alternate Start
Tired of the same old, ‘’you’re finally awake?’’ prologue? It’s time to step up your game with ‘Alternate Start’ mode.
This unique mode completely changes the plot of the game by allowing the players to choose their own storylines and customize the story as they see fit. Players can choose from hundreds of races and start off the game with unique gameplay without altering the original storyline.
If you’re into RPG stuff and really admire all the RPG elements in Skyrim then this mod will let you experiment with your creativity in a fun way.
Though it is not available for PlayStation 4, players can find similar mods that will enhance their in-game experience by adding expansion packs that contain hours of new content that includes quests, hours of live dialogues, and much more.
One of the most impressive expansion mods, Enderal is a must-have if you’ve completed the campaign and looking for another adventure.
Enderal adds a hundred hours’ worth of gameplay that includes various quests around the realm with hours of dialogues along with other features. Developers spent countless hours developing this exceptional mod and later on, it even got a DLC to further add more content to the game.
The modding community has always been generous when it comes to expansion packs with tons of new quests and excellent storylines. Enderal and Falskaar are among the most appreciated mods of Skyrim and if you’re on a quest to find the best Skyrim mods, make sure to give’em a shot.
7. Quality World Map
We will conclude this list with the ‘Quality World Map’ mod. It adds a 3D view of the world map that reveals everything across the realm in real-time.
Bethesda put a lot of effort into the development of the game and the realm is so finely crafted that it seems almost unbelievable at times, but, the world map doesn’t do it much justice. Players often had to go in rounds to find the quest and reaching the top of the maintain was a real headache for most players. But, the Quality World Map offers a better-looking map with multiple viewpoints that makes it quite easy to navigate around the realm.
This mod highlights all the important markers on the map and gives an excellent touch to the game. Quality World Map mod is available on PC and Xbox One only.
That’s all folks!
