It’s fair to say that the last decade provided us with some truly outstanding games that revolutionized the gaming industry forever. We’ve been provided with fantastic and innovative entertainment games like Grand Theft Auto V, TLOU, Dishonored, COD, and dozens more, and we will forever cherish these games till our very last breath.
We are heading into a new decade and with technological advances in every field, there will be many mouthwatering games that will land in our laps. After spending countless hours playing games from different genres, we compiled a list of the most anticipated games of this decade that we’re eager to get our hands-on.
Without any further delay, here’s a list of the most anticipated games of the decade that we’re most excited about.
Most Anticipated Games of the Decade (2020-2030)
Grand Theft Auto VI
Rockstar’s next installment in the franchise, Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most anticipated games of the decade. Sources say Rockstar will be recreating Vice City for GTA VI, and there are some rumors that we will meet more than one protagonist. Moving on, the game has been in development for many years, but credible sources suggest that Rockstar might be releasing GTA VI in 2025.
Bethesda’s very own RPG is going to hit our shelves in the winter season of 2022. It’s an open-universe RPG that’s taking us beyond the boundaries of Earth. Players will explore the space while enjoying an exciting storyline. Bethesda has already delayed the game a few times and fans are quite hyped for this game but hopefully, they won’t have to wait much to get their hands on this anticipated game of the decade.
The Witcher 4
Although CD Projekt Red couldn’t deliver the perfect experience in Cyberpunk 2077, we are quite optimistic about The Witcher 4. Developers have confirmed that the next chapter in the Witcher saga is in the works and will be released later this decade. Having thoroughly enjoyed the last one, we can’t wait to see what Geralt Rivia has in store for us.
Those keenly anticipating the release of Skyrim’s successor, Elden Ring, are on their toes after the announcement teaser was released. A legendary RPG from Bethesda featuring fire-breathing dragons and an expansive world awaits you in this upcoming title with endless possibilities. In addition, fans have been waiting for more than 10 years to experience the next game in the series and they will finally be able to live out their dreams when the Elden Ring is released in January 2022.
Everything about ‘Control’ blew us away and it’s a game that we’ll always keep close to our hearts. From taking down hiss agents to solving intense puzzles, Control had everything one could expect from an action/adventure game. And thankfully, a sequel to the game, Control 2 is already in the works and is expected to be released sometime later this decade. In addition, the developers also hinted at a multiplayer spinoff that will be arriving soon.
Ghost of Tsushima 2
After the huge success of Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch, a PS-exclusive developer, might be working on a sequel to the original game. There’s nothing official yet but a few leaks and job postings by the company have suggested that they might be working on the next title.
Furthermore, after playing the first one, we were left in awe of its stunning visuals and storytelling. And if there’s a new one in the works, fans all around the globe, including us, would be very hyped for this one.
With so much on the hands of Bethesda, Fallout 5 seems like a title that might be releasing near the end of the decade. And if this time the developers don’t repeat their mistakes, as they did with Fallout 76, this new installment could have the potential to be crowned the best game of the decade. At the moment, Bethesda is working on Elden Ring, Starfield, and a bunch of exclusive games for Xbox as well, and looking at the window, we predict that Fallout 5 may get released after 2025.
Watch Dogs 4
Since the first two installments in the Watch Dogs franchise were a huge success, Ubisoft is expected to make a fourth game in the series as well. Although people had mixed reviews about WD: Legion, we expect the developers to learn from their mistakes and offer a true ‘’hackerman’’ experience that we crave so much.
A Plague Tale: Requiem
A Plague Tale: Innocence’s heart-wrenching plot left a mark on our hearts and losing our beloved lion in the first scenes felt like we lost a loved one. An exceptional story with flawless mechanics and visuals, A Plague Tale: Innocence deserves a sequel and you’d be glad to know that it is finally happening.
At E3 this year, it was revealed by the developers that they’re working on a second game in the franchise, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and it will hit our screens in the year 2022. A Plague Tale: Innocence has been one of the highest-rated AAA titles of recent years and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in A Plague Tale: Requiem.
God of War: Ragnarok
With yet another delay, we may not get our hands on one of the most anticipated games of the decade, God of War: Ragnarok, the fifth installment in the franchise. Kratos and his son will embark on another journey but this time, they’ll be up against fierce enemies like Loki, a trickster known for making his enemies suffer.
The developers have made it clear that God of War: Ragnarok will be a PS-exclusive which means that it will only be available on PlayStation 4 and 5. Unfortunately, like its predecessor, God of War: Ragnarok won’t be making its debut on PC or Xbox. And as for the release date, God of War Ragnarok is expected to land somewhere in the fall of 2022 if it doesn’t get any more delays.
That’s all folks!
